The next meeting of the Statistical Council under the State Statistical Committee was held.

The next meeting of the Statistical Council under the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in December 13.

Chairman of the State Statistical Committee greeted members of the Council and participants of the meeting and informed about meeting agenda issues. He mentioned that “The State Program on Improvement of the Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2025” has been approved by the decree of the Head of State Mr. Ilham Aliyev, dated 14 February 2018 and is successfully implemented for the purpose of improvement of information security, expanding administrative data source usage and more strengthening the reforms held in the system of statistics to develop official statistics in line with international standards, assess the status of achieving goals and priorities put forward in the strategic road map. Furthermore, Chairman of the Committee spoke about population census in the Republic of Azerbaijan to be held on 1-10 October 2019 and noted that in order to provide execution of the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Conduction of population census in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2019” dated 7 September, 2016, № 1040 a pilot population census has been successfully conducted on 1-10 October 2018 in Gabala region for the aim to assess the status of readiness for population census according to decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan “About 2019 Population Census Preparation and Conduction Action Plan dated 16 December 2016, № 517. During a pilot census about 50 methodological and supplementary documents prepared by the State Statistical Committee have been successfully tested.

Mr. Gasim Aliyev, Head of the Department of Statistical Works Coordination and Strategic Planning noted about actions envisaged for 2019 by the project “The State Program on Improvement of the Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2025” and Mr. Azad Abbasaliyev, Head of Census Group informed about the results of pilot census conducted on 1-10 October of the current year in Gabala region.

Council meeting continued with discussions, the proposals were given and corresponding decision were taken.
