Presentation of the “ASIS – Azerbaijan Statistical Information System” statistical information dissemination system was held

Presentation of the “ASIS – Azerbaijan Statistical Information System” statistical data dissemination system developed within the “Strengthening Statistical Capacity in the Republic of Azerbaijan” Project between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Statistics Korea was held in December 3, 2018.

Yusif Yusifov, Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee and Hyung Seog, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Statistics Korea made opening speeches at the presentation.

It was mentioned that, improvement of the statistical production process, increasing quality of the data, ensuring international comparability stipulates wider use of the opportunities provided by the information technologies. One of these activities which needs to be implemented to strengthen the statistical capacity on the basis of innovative technologies is establishment of the databases with metadata on a single platform in the official statistical system, submission of them to users according to the modern dissemination standards, so that necessary measures are being taken by the State Statistical Committee for this purpose. In this regard, the State Statistical Committee actively cooperates with many international organizations and relevant authorities of the developed countries, conducts study of the innovative approaches and advanced standards applied in the leading world countries and integration into their national statistical system continuously.

Mr. Keun Yong Kim, General Manager of the Korean company, Nurimsoft and Ms. Chimnaz Aliyeva, Head of the Information technologies department of the State Statistical Committee provided detailed information about the joint work done in 2018 within the framework of the project and developed “ASIS – Azerbaijan Statistical Information System” statistical data dissemination system.

Then ASIS statistical data dissemination system was presented to the participants of the feast in a real-time mode. It was mentioned that, the main advantage of ASIS is that, it is user-oriented and each user can use this opportunity to create tables, time series in a real-time mode, visualize data through graphics, print and save data on the basis of the official statistics placed in the database. ASIS was designed in a simple-to-understand style and according to the internationally-implemented standards in the field of data dissemination that, it will enable more convenient use of the official statistics by the country users, as well as citizens of the foreign countries and international organizations. At the end of the ceremony questions of the participants of the feast and media representatives were answered.
