According to the State Border Service data, in January-August 2018, Azerbaijan received from 193 countries of the world 1976.9 thousand or 8.5% more foreigners and stateless persons compared to the same period of last year. 31.6% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 19.5% - Georgia, 9.8% - Turkey, 9.4% - Iran, 3.5% - the United Arab Emirates, 2.6% - Iraq, 2.0% - Ukraine, 21.5% were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 66.4% of the arrivals were men and 33.6% were women. 9.4% of foreigners and stateless persons came to our country in January, 8.4% in February, 14.0% in March, 11.0% in April, 10.5% in May, 13.6% in June, 16.7% in July and 16.4% in August.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors from the Gulf countries (except Iran and the United Arab Emirates) in January-August 2018. Compared to January-August of last year, the number of Kuwait citizens arriving in Azerbaijan has increased for 2.2 times, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain – 2.4 times, Qatar – 1.9 times, Iraq – 19.0% and Oman – 9.5%. The number of arrivals from the United Arab Emirates decreased by 5.6% and from Iran it decreased by 25.4%. The total number of visitors from the Gulf countries increased by 0.5% and amounted to 433.6 thousand person, and in general, one out of every five person came to our country was from the Gulf countries.

In January-August 2018, the number of arrivals from EU members increased by 8.0% and amounted to 77.0 thousand, and from the CIS countries increased by 5.5% and amounted to 734.0 thousand person.

56.1% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 42.9% - air and 1.0% - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-August 2018 increased by 11.7% compared to same period of last year and amounted 3089.8 thousand person. 30.9% of the country citizens traveled to Georgia, 29.7% - Iran, 19.6% - Russian Federation, 13.4% - Turkey, 1.6% - Ukraine, 1.0% - United Arab Emirates, 3.8% to other countries. 65.7% of the travelers were men and 34.3% were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 43.4, Georgia – by 2.3% and the number of people going to Turkey decreased by 2.8%, Russian Federation - by 1.9%.

In January-August 2018, 80.1% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 19.1% - air and 0.8% - water transport.
