Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in 2017

In 2017, the country's automobile roads suffered a traffic accident of 1833, or 8.6 percent less than in 2016, the number of victims of these events dropped by 10.6 percent to 2469. 759 of suffered persons died and 1719 of them were injured. 43.5% of accidents happened in the daytime, 38.0% - at night time, 18.5% - during twilight; 29.0% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87.7% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared to 2016 increased by 4.2% and made 518 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 14.1% and 1613 persons.

51.2% (more 6.3% compared to last year) of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 30.8% (22.7% less) - several transport means, 18.1% (16.0% less) - one mode of transport.

76.0% of persons died and 71.4% of injured as a result of traffic accidents.

29 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 16 persons died, 25 persons injured. 75.9% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

During the year number of administrative violation of traffic rules compared to 2016 increased by 17.6% and made 3365.4 thousand. 52.5% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road (more than 23.5% compared to 2016), 10.0% - violation of parking regulations (1.3% less), 10.0% - continue the movement of the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign (0.9% more), 9.1% - disobedience the requirements of road signs (46.2% more), 3.6% - driving without seat belt (0.8% less) and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of 73.7 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
