On January-December 2017 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 187 countries of the world; goods were exported to 116 countries and imported from 179 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover on January-December 2017 made 24257.6 million USD, including export value – 15475.6 million USD, import value – 8782.0 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 6693.0 million USD. In comparison with January-December 2016 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 12.3%, in real terms it decreased by 10.7%, including export - by 7.1% and import – 16.1%.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 31.9% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 9.9% - Turkey, 4.6% - Israel, 4.3% - Russia, 4.0% - Czech Republic, 3.9% - Canada, per 3.4% - Georgia and Indonesia, 3.3% - Germany, per 3.2% - Portugal and China, 2.6% - India, 2.5% - Ukraine, 2.4% - France and the rest 17.4% - other countries.

17.7% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of import transactions with Russia, 14.5% - Turkey, 9.7% - China, 8.2% - USA, 5.2% - Ukraine, 5.1% - Germany, 3.6% - Italy, per 2.7%- Iran and United Kingdom, 2.0% - Brazil, 1.9% - Japan, per 1.8% - Norway and France, 23.1% - other countries.

On January-December 2017 non-oil products in amount of 1538.4 million USD have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 24.4% and in real terms for 22.2% relatively to January-December 2016.

On January-December 2017 compared to the same period of 2016 export of main types of products like fresh fruits increased by 21.6%, fresh vegetable – 84.5%, potato – 50.7%, tobacco – 2.1 times, fruit and vegetable juice – 57.3%, tea – 52.5%, natural grape wine and cellar – 97.9%, fruit and vegetable cans – 3.2%, ferrous metal pipes – 2.2%, cotton fibre – 4.3 times, bentonite clay – 2.9 times, while export of sugar decreased by 43.5%, vegetable oils – 7.4%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 11.3%, polyethylene – 10.9%, unprocessed aluminum – 27.2%, semifinished ferrous metals – 49.7%, cotton yarn – 24.9%.

On January-December 2017 compared to January-November 2016 import of raw sugar and sugar increased by 1.0%, fresh fruit - 3.8%, tea – 7.7%, poultry meat and its additional products – 5.7%, beef – 76.0%, cigarettes – 18.6%, motor cars – 2.3 times, steel rolling – 5.6%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 44.0%, rubber tyres – 35.0%, ferrous metal rods – 10.7%, mineral fertilizers – 8.2%, polyethylene – 4.5%, washing machine – 63.4%, ferrous metal corners – 22.2%, domestic air conditioners – 24.2%, trucks – 2.1 times, busses – 94.8%, while import of wheat decreased by 20.3%, vegetable oil – 5.3%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 3.9%, potato – 12.3%, fresh vegetable – 38.8%, ferrous metal pipes – 41.8%, furniture – 20.5%, decreased of wheat import 22.2%, , ferrous metal – 47.4%, polyethylene – 8.7%, cement and cement clinkers – 91.9%, domestic refrigerators – 0.8%.
