Session of Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment held in Geneva

Representative of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Head of Sector on Ecology, Forestry and Fishing Statistics of the Department– Rena Lazimova participated in the session of working group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment held on 7-8 September, 2015 in Geneva.
Representatives from Eastern Europa, Caucasus and Central Asia countries as well as, Albania, Austria, Macedonia, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, European Agency on Environment, UNEP and also, representatives of Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia participated in the session.
During the session topics on Outcomes of the sixteenth session of the Working Group, Reporting mechanism for the review of progress in establishing the Shared Environmental Information System in the pan-European region, Evaluation report on the Shared Environmental Information System for the Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference, Data and information of the Shared Environmental Information System and others were discussed.
The Working Group considered a proposal by the secretariat for a reporting mechanism for the review of progress in establishing and operating the pan-European Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) by ECE member countries. The secretariat presented an evaluation of the ECE countries’ performance in establishing SEIS. The evaluation was prepared based on the SEIS performance rating contained in the reporting mechanism. For each country the performance was measured for each of the 67 data sets the Working Group agreed to include in the pan-European SEIS at its sixteenth session. According to the results of rating, total efficiency in the establishment of SEIS was formed 57 percent on the Republic of Azerbaijan, existing of 38 indicators from 67 indicators in online regime was given in the web page of the State Statistical Committee.
During the session different presentations were presented and topics were discussed.
